The initial Muslim Ban in 2017 revealed my own gaps in knowledge of contemporary art and artists. To combat my western-centrism, I began researching and writing about practicing artists in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. I started with the seven countries targeted by the ban and expanded outward. From 2017–2019, I covered approximately 38 countries, which I published online.
